Gabe and Tom first meet when Tom picks Gabe up from the airport for his new job as the Gatekeeper of the open gateway on Mannix Estate. At the time, Tom knew nothing about Gabe’s job or that anything was special about Mannix Estate beyond being haunted. That all changed when a Higher Demon named Marc caught a ride from him to Mannix Estate, and he had to be told why his passenger was so dangerous.
Once Tom was brought into the fold, he proved to be quite useful. Not only was he a trained fighter, but he was also useful for running errands and was one of the few people who had patience with Marc. As the residents of Mannix Estate, along with the visiting members of The Collective, plan how to stop the end of the world, Tom and Gabe decided to stop waiting for the ideal time to start a relationship.
“Gateway Catastrophe” is a low-angst romantic suspense story. Gabe and Tom are both a little shy when it comes to relationships, but decide that they’re willing to take a chance on each other. Although it takes them a while to decide to hook up, once they do, the spicy scenes are quite steamy. “Gateway Catastrophe” also introduces a few new side characters, including Marc, who are quite entertaining. I really enjoyed this story and rate it four and a half stars.
I received a copy of this book from Give Me Books, and this is my honest review.
