Ian and Marc first met when Ian was 12 and Marc was battling Ian’s older brother Connor. They met again when Marc arrived to help them save the world from an even worse demon. Now Marc is the ambassador to Earth from the Otherworld. Ian is the chosen liaison, mainly because he's the person who tolerates Marc the best. Still, it’s a tentative relationship, as Ian is a demon hunter and Marc is a demon. 


Ian finds himself very attracted to Marc and decides to kiss him, hoping that will get him out of his system. Unfortunately, it has the opposite effect and despite Marc’s many irksome qualities, the two men are soon hooking up regularly. However, it has to be kept a secret because it could ruin the tentative alliance between the two worlds. Plus Ian’s brother would freak out. 


“Higher Demon” is a low-angst romantic suspense story. Ian and Marc are both strong-willed men, which ensures there’s no imbalance of power in their relationship. We get to see them move from enemies to friends to lovers throughout the course of the story. The steamy scenes, though infrequent, are spicy and one includes some hot demon magic. As a bonus, characters from the Ghostly Guardians series make cameos in this book. I really enjoyed this story and rate it four and a half stars.
