Quinn and Tristan meet after Quinn rescues one of Tristan’s cats, who accidentally got outside. Tristan wasn’t home at the time, but he goes next door to thank Quinn. Quinn is a content creator currently starting his own construction company. Tristan is a veterinarian and single father who shares custody with his ex-husband.

After their first meeting, Quinn and Tristan slowly become close friends, spending most of Tristan’s free evenings together. They might have stayed that way had Tristan not needed a date to a friend’s wedding since his ex will be there. Quinn offers to play his fake boyfriend, but halfway through the date realizes he wants a real relationship with Tristan.

Quinn had always thought he was straight but isn't surprised to find out he’s not, since he’s demisexual and he knows that many demisexual people are also bi or pan. He does however have a little bit of a freak-out because he worries about what this could do to his friendship with Tristan. Tristan has the same worries, but wants to take a chance on dating Quinn. They decide to take things slowly and see how it goes.

In “Dad Next Door”, we witness two men start off as friends and gradually develop into lovers. What I appreciated most about the story was the way their friendship was portrayed - it was sweet, natural and devoid of any sexual tension until later in the book. This made the eventual romance between the two men all the more satisfying to read.

Apart from the main characters, I found the side characters to be equally interesting, particularly Tristan's sister and Quinn's friend, Nick. They added depth and richness to the story and made it more enjoyable to read. When the two men finally give in to their attraction for each other, the steamy scenes are well written and add to the overall appeal of the book.  All in all, I found this book to be a great read and would rate it four stars.

I received this book as an ARC from ForewardPR and this is my honest review.
