Derek and Wyn meet when Wyn is hired to be Derek’s personal assistant (PA) after his last PA quit. Derek is a terror to work for, but Wyn is very good at managing people. However, due to his attraction to Wyn, Derek makes his job harder, demanding that Wyn plan his son’s destination wedding in three weeks. Wyn manages to pull it off.
Things get more complicated for Wyn when Derek comes out to his ex-wife, announcing that Wyn is his date to his son’s wedding and insinuating that they’ve secretly been a couple for a while. While they’re in Hawaii for the wedding, Derek offers to pay Wyn to teach him what being with a man is like. Wyn agrees due to his intense attraction to Derek. Their relationship continues when they return to Los Angeles.
In “Work: Strictly Professional,” Derek and Wyn start out in a combative relationship and eventually fall in love. Tropes include enemies to lovers, age gap, only one bed, and forced proximity. The overall story is fun, and I enjoyed seeing Miller and Ryan from “Rent: Paid in Full,” which is the first book in this series. Derek is unashamed of what he wants, and all the spicy scenes are hot. Overall, I found the book enjoyable and would rate it four stars out of five.
Thank you to Jesse H. Reign for my copy of the book.
